The story of this jewelry box
My friend had a birthday in February, and since I sometimes do different things, I decided to give her something that I would do with my own hands.
There were many attempts, I tried to make a ring, a necklace, different things. And it turned out to be shit.
I often face the fact that I just can't finish if I don't like in the process. I know that this is an integral part of the learning process - but fuck my head, I can't control myself.
And after a few months of starting and stopping, I finally came up with the idea of creating a jewelry box. I came up with it from scratch, and usually the things I create are a bit stolen, as I find references and don't replicate them exactly, but the main inspiration comes from other people's work.
However, this box was entirely my own creation. Both the design and the execution.
It's a regular cardboard box that I covered with papier-mâché, then I covered it with plaster in random layers to create a stone-like surface.
The rabbit's head is made of clay, and I used foil as a frame before covering it with clay.
Then I polished and painted it. Finally, I covered it with epoxy and added moss to cover the seams.
I covered it with varnish so that the paint wouldn't wear off, and I filled it with toy filler so that the bag wouldn't make a hard sound when you put something inside. I also cut the bag out of fabric myself, glued it to the base of the box, and used a lighter to secure the edges, which added an authentic and practical touch.
This box would have been created much faster if it weren't for my mood swings and lack of success.
This is my first fully completed work, and I have a lot of unfinished projects in my house.
It's so satisfying to finish something and see the result. I hope this will motivate me to complete my tasks in the future
