Do you like my new palm leaf basket purse I made? 💚🧺
I really enjoyed this process so much! I can't wait to do more. I wove this using a Mexican palm leaf which are ubiquitous in LA. There are thorns on the stem, so before weaving, I sliced them off. Then, I separated the leaf into strips while it was still attached. Once separated, I did a basic over-under-over-under weave and then bent the stem to create the handle of the bag. The fibers are very strong and I can't wait to see how it ages and turn more yellow. Would love to craft more of these!
