The end of the school year is always a mix of emotions for me. While I know I’m not supposed to have favorite students, I can’t help but feel a special bond with many of them, especially those graduating this year. It’s incredible how invested you become in their lives, hearing about their hopes, dreams, and ambitions. I often find myself being a shoulder to lean on and a supportive listener; at times, it feels like I’m a parent to some of them. Watching them grow and blossom into their unique, artistic selves is truly rewarding. I take great pride in being an educator and can’t wait for my summer break, but parting ways with students to whom I’ve formed strong connections is always a challenge. 🥲
