Sorry I’ve been slow to respond—between being sick and building social-media automation scripts, it’s been a lot to manage.
Today’s especially hard: I’m saying goodbye at 2:30 to the cat I’ve had for 15 years. I grew up surrounded by animals, so I know loss, but it never hurts less.
A little story if you wanna keep reading.
This cat’s father followed me home one day when I was eight—I’d spotted him behind a Dollar Tree on my way to the bookstore, on my way back I may have purposely lead him to my house. My mom let us keep him, and we called him M.C. for “Matthew’s Cat.” A few litters later, this is the last of that line. So in a way it’s the end of an era. I don’t think I’ll ever own a new pet of my own in the future as the loss is just too much for an empathetic guy like me, but I will always be an animal person. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk
