It isn’t new — even in the old stories, men were torn between Sara and Hagar, the wife and the lover. Jung spoke of the anima and the hetaira — the muse, the temptress, the shadow of desire. Every culture has tried to split women in two, as if we can’t be both sacred and wild at the same time.
But not everyone gets both sides of me. Only a man who knows how to truly handle me gets to see the Madonna and the Magdalene.
