So, I've finally caught up on all my work and now have more free time. Even though the days are still quite warm, the evenings are starting to hint that fall is on its way. I gotta say, fall is such an awesome season! There's something magical about watching the trees change colors over a few weeks. Those misty and rainy evenings are perfect for wrapping up in a blanket. It's a great time for my inner nerd too, playing games and watching good shows just feels so much better when it's cold outside š
I just finished watching Dexter: Original Sin and I want to share some thoughts! In case you're not familiar, Dexter is one of the most successful shows ever. Sure - the quality dipped over time, but those first four seasons are still pretty damn good even today. The story revolves around Dexter Morgan, a forensics expert living a double life. By day, he investigates crime scenes and collects evidence. By night, heās a serial killer taking out criminals who slipped through the justice system. Original Sin is actually a prequel, it shows the earlier events and how Dexter started working for Miami Metro.
I gotta admit, I was super skeptical about Original Sin at first. The concept sounded cool, but replacing all the actors had me worried, especially since the characters are such a strong point of the show. Surprisingly, it turned out to be pretty damn good! What really blew me away was how well the new actors nailed their roles. They totally made me believe they were younger versions of the original characters. The little details they brought to life, the way they talked, moved, and their unique gestures, were all spot-on. It got me hooked, just like the first four seasons did back in the day š
There are just a couple of things that bugged me. First off, the color grading was off. The colors were kinda washed out and didnāt really match Miamiās vibe that well. Dexter is famous for its vibrant colors and Cuban music, and I felt like it was missing that to some degree. Second, the story had some issues. Every season of Dexter has a villain, and this one is no exception. My problem is, the villainās motivations in Original Sin were just plain dumb. They made no sense at all. It felt like the writers just knew they needed a villain but had no idea how to make it interesting š¤¦š»
I had a great time watching it! Itās not the best show ever, but itās definitely a nice addition. It adds a lot of background and little story bits, and itās really satisfying to see how everything ties together. Iām just bummed that the continuation got canceled. I honestly think they couldāve made more seasons, and I wouldāve loved watching them. Iād give it an 8 out of 10, itās good! If you havenāt seen the original Dexter, donāt start with this one, since it has a lot of spoilers š¤«
Now, Iāve started watching Dexter: Resurrection and Iām super excited about it too! My thoughts on Donkey Kong Bananza are coming on Friday, Iām almost done with the game, like 95% there!
Kisses, hugs and a serial killer you can't help but root for š
