A vintage silk scarf featuring feminist icons of the time including Cleopatra (the very same Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt) , Madam du Barry (mistress of King Louis XV - husband of Marie Antoinette), Nell Gwyn (famous actress of the 1600s and mistress of the King), George Sand (the pen name of a French Novelist of the early 1800s who advocated for women's rights) and Catherine the Great.

Catherine the Great is a fascinating character but in an effort to keep the caption short you can chew on this: she was an intelligent, effective leader of Russia in the mid-1700s who tossed aside her husband and declared herself the empress.

Apparently that went better than what you'd expect for the time except for one tiny detail that haunts her record: her enjoyment of a fulfilling sex life. She took lovers throughout her life which was uncharacteristic for a woman to freely advertise, leading to her culturally known as a sexual deviant with all kinds of wild myths. Apparently she did have some cool furniture that had sultry designs carved into it, though.
