Milk it - no, it's not a sex thing, it's still just stand-up.
Say you've written a joke - a standard set-up followed by a punchline. Yay! It works! Why not add a tagline? And another one? And another one? Often times the ideas and the set-ups are the hardest things to come up with. Once you've got it, keep adding those lines. Expand, zoom in, dance around. Question yourself. Look at it from all angles. Milk that joke. Just make sure that the last sentence of the joke is also the funniest one.
