Has anyone here actually improved their English by watching TV shows in English with subtitles in your own language?

I used to have private lessons, but I would quit whenever I had homework related to learning grammar... 😝
Currently, I'm learning with a smartphone app, I write a lot here, and I’ve started watching The Simpsons. I’m curious if that will help.

I’d like to improve my English because of traveling - first time in the USA this year - Miami or New York, I haven’t decided yet.
Before guys from the USA ask – pls don’t ask if I will kick you in the balls, it’s not allowed here 😉

Besides that, I’d like to record videos with girls from other countries and comfortably make videos in English without losing authenticity.
