For those of you that have seen the show Big Mouth, I like to tease that if I had a hormone monster she'd most certainly be a Mae West type wearing an oversized sheer, marabou trimmed robe and telling me to indulge in all the things I want, including wearing my own version of said robe.
Marabou (previously spelled marabout but by the 20th century the "t" was dropped) is a type of feather trim made from marabou storks that's luxuriously soft and flows. Nowadays lingerie with that kind of trim is typically from turkey feathers in lieu of marabou but the effect is the same - it screams sexy, old Hollywood vixen femininity. They were popular in the 1920s and 30s, peaking into the 1960s before falling out of fashion except in lingerie or showgirl costumes.
